An Alabama jury has convicted a 30-year-old man in the sex abuse of a young girl.
A Shelby County jury last week found Robert Benjamin “Ben” Reid guilty of sex abuse of a child.
Reid was initially arrested on the felony charge in 2017. Reid’s arrest warrant alleged that he subjected a child younger than 12 years old to sexual contact in September of that year.
The mother of the victim filed a protection order against Reid. In the petition for the protection order, the mother wrote that Reid would “not stop calling and making threats,” and asked that Reid be barred from having any contact with the parent and child.
The case was investigated by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Circuit Judge William Bostick revoked Reid’s bond upon the conviction. Sentencing is set for Sept. 20.
