Alabama teen killed as ATV strikes tree

An Alabama teen was killed late Monday night when the ATV he was operating struck a tree, state troopers said.
The single-vehicle crash involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) occurred at approximately 11:50 p.m. Monday, and claimed the life of a Union Grove, Alabama, teen.
The 15-year-old was critically injured when the 2015 Honda four-wheeler ATV that the teen was operating left the roadway and struck a tree.
After the initial impact, the juvenile and another 15-year-old teen, who was a passenger, was thrown from the Honda. Neither were using a helmet at the time of crash.
Both teens were injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The teen, who was the operator of the Honda, later succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased while at the hospital.
The crash occurred on Union Chapel Road near Union Grove Road, approximately 4 miles north of Arab, in Marshall County.
