An Alabama man who was killed Tuesday when his pickup truck overturned has been identified.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the man killed in the wreck was Robert Shane McElroy, 36, of Maplesville, Alabama.

McElroy was killed when the pickup truck he was driving and another pickup truck he was towing on Interstate 65 South near the Oxmoor Road exit in Homewood overturned at approximately 11 a.m. Tuesday.

McElroy was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger was transported to UAB Hospital with critical injuries.

Yates said the Homewood Police are investigating the accident.
