1 child dead, three other people, including 1-year-old injured in Alabama interstate crash, state troopers say

An 10-year-old Mississippi child was killed early Sunday in an highway accident, Alabama state troopers said.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:55 a.m. Sunday, and claimed the life of a Belden, Miss., juvenile.
The 10-year-old, who was a passenger in the 2023 Nissan Versa, was critically injured when the Nissan left the roadway and struck an embankment.
The juvenile was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased a short time later.
The driver of the Nissan, Raymoni L. Gordon, 31, of Tupelo, Miss., was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Passengers in the Nissan, Shuntalisha D. Metcalf, 36, of Belden, Miss., and a 1-year-old, were also injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Interstate 22, near the 29 mile marker, approximately one mile west of Brilliant, in Marion County.
