A 2-year-old girl was found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool Saturday, authorities said.

The child was initially reported as being missing, but when Limestone County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived the child was found at the bottom of a swimming pool Saturday at approximately 1 p.m. at on Miller Lane.

Limestone County Coroner Mike West told local media that the child was transported by air to Huntsville Hospital, but was declared dead later.

The incident is under investigation.
