An Alabama man has been charged abusing a dog after police find a dead dog in a creek.

Kevin Bruce, 33, was arrested after police said they located him near the scene where a witness heard an animal in distress on Sunday and allegedly witnessed Bruce physically abusing a small white dog.

When Florence police officers arrived, they found the dog dead in a creek at a bridge near the 300 block of Minniehaha Street, investigators said.

After interviewing the witness and locating Bruce and talking with him, Bruce was arrested and charged with aggravated animal abuse. He was being held Monday on a $2,500 bond at the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
