An Alabama woman was convicted of murdering a man who protected his pregnant friend when the two women began fighting.

A Mobile County jury found Titiana Shelton guilty of intentional murder on Wednesday.

Shelton was found guilty by a Mobile County jury of her peers for the May 2020, murder of 19-year-old Klintaveus Thompson.

On May 10, 2020, at John’s Seafood on Springhill Avenue, Titiana Shelton started a fight with Thompson’s friend who was in the third trimester of her pregnancy.

Thompson pulled Shelton off his friend and they both fell through a glass window.

Assistant District Attorney Coy Morgan provided testimony proving that Shelton then got up, pulled a .40 caliber pistol from her purse, pistol whipped Thompson several times with her gun, then fired a fatal shot into his back while still on the ground.

Titiana Shelton immediately fled the scene and was apprehended by Mobile Police Department the next day.

“Today’s conviction serves as a reminder that our community will not tolerate reckless behavior that jeopardizes the safety and well-being of others,” Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood said. “We remain steadfast in our dedication to pursuing justice and ensuring that those who commit such heinous acts are held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”

Sentencing for Titiana Shelton is set for May 2, 2020, in front of Judge Hambright. The sentencing range is 20 years to life. The State was represented by Assistant District Attorneys Coy Morgan and Dylan Szymanski.
