A missing Alabama man was found dead Sunday morning 7 days after he went missing.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies said John Derek Faulkner of Conecuh County was found at approximately 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning near the Alabama River Bridge after a 7-day search.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Mr. Faulkner as they navigate this tragic loss,” Monroe County Sheriff Boatwright said.

Faulkner’s body will be taken to the Alabama State Forensic Science team to determine the manner and cause of his death, investigators said.
