Alabama’s Redstone Arsenal, a U.S. Army base that’s home to a number of federal agencies, encourages its workers to work remotely today after a main sewer line burst on Thursday.
“This affects a large portion of the installation,” Arsenal leaders posted on social media. “As a result, Command Leadership has requested that all organizations, and agencies on the installation implement maximum use of telework or liberal leave.”
While the sewer line is repaired base officials suggest any usage of water or sewer lines on the installation will further exacerbate the situation and could further delay the repairs.
The following services on base have indicated their status for today:
One Stop – Closing at 10 a.m.
Fox Army Health Center – Closing at 12 p.m.
Goss Road Child Development Center – Normal operating hours
School Age Services – Normal operating hours
Java Café – Closed
All other FMWR Facilities/Services will remain on normal operating hours
AAFES – Normal operating hours
Commissary – Normal operating hours
