Alabama officials seek public’s help in three-month search for escaped fugitive

Alabama authorities are reaching out to the public for help after a three-month search for an escaped fugitive.
The Alabama Department of Corrections is seeking the whereabouts Ricky Lavon Lay, 39, a wanted fugitive.
Lay is described as being 5′10″ tall and weighing around 175 lbs with tattoos.
Lay was serving a 16-year prison sentence for burglary at the Mobile Community-Based Facility and Community Work Center in Mobile.
Officials say Lay escaped from the Steiner Shipyard where he was currently assigned to work. Lay left the job site without approval.
Officials say he was last seen wearing a green shirt, blue jeans, and work boots on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, around 3:30 p.m.
Investigators say Lay has ties to Mississippi and Alabama and has been known to frequent both states.
Central Alabama Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to the location of Lay.
