An Alabama man was killed this week after his car was involved in a head-on collision with a truck, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, and claimed the life of an Athens, Alabama, man.

Sammy H. Keyes, 73, was critically injured when the 2019 Ford Edge that he was driving was struck by the 2003 Ford F-250 driven by Joshua James Moore, 36, of Athens.

After the initial impact, the Ford Edge left the roadway and struck a fence. Keyes was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

On Monday, Jan. 29, Keyes succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased while at the hospital.
