Two people were arrested Thursday and charged with murder in the shooting death of a 9-year-old Alabama girl who was killed inside her home as she slept on a couch.

Police said they arrested Tryone Williams, 19, and Ariel Curry, 22, each expected to face felony murder charges.

The pair are accused of shooting into a Mobile, Alabama residence at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday, killing 9-year-old Cailee Knight, who was sleeping inside.

Police said the intended victim was Knight’s 16-year-old brother.

Knight’s senseless murder has drawn outrage from the community.
