An Alabama police officer is on administrative leave as authorities investigate a video of an arrest showing a handcuffed man being hit with a stun gun.

The video shows a white female officer from Reform arresting a black male along a Pickens County highway.

During the arrest, the officer tells the male to lie down, face forward, on a vehicle while she searches her pockets. At one point in the video, the officer tells the man to “stay still.” The man in handcuffs protests. Soon after the officer displays the stun gun and deploys it to the man’s back.

The man in handcuffs begins to cry and say, ““Oh my God.”

The officer then says, “Do you want it again?” as the man continues to cry.

Soon after, the video ends. The recording does not show what happened leading up to the arrest.

Reform police Chief Richard Black and Mayor Melody Davis issued a statement Monday about the incident. They said the state has launched an investigation into the arrest.

“The department is in the process of turning over all materials related to this arrest to the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and has requested a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest,’’ the statement said.

They said the officer in the video has been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.
