A manhunt was under way on Monday for an escaped Alabama prison inmate, authorities said.

Alabama Department of Corrections officials said inmate Tom Seabers Pope, 35, escaped a work release center in Coosa County Sunday evening.

He is described as a white male, approximately 5-foot, 7-inches in height and weighs approximately 160 pounds.

He has blue eyes and brown hair.

Prison officials said he was last seen at approximately 6:45 p.m. Sunday, but wasn’t noticed missing until approximately 9:18 p.m.

He was serving a 180-month sentence for breaking and entering. He was sentenced in February 2022.

If you see him or know of his whereabouts, officials ask that you notify law enforcement.
