An Alabama woman was killed Thursday when her vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree, state troopers said.

The accident happened at approximately 10:55 a.m. on Alabama 60, 2 miles north of Akron, troopers said.

The victim was identified as Tracie H. Powell, 74, of Moundville, Alabama.

Investigators said Powell’s vehicle struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
