An Alabama man has been charged with murdering his wife late Saturday, police said.

Charles O’Neal Milton, 43, of Saraland, was arrested and charged with murder after police were called to a residence in the 7200 block of Hardy Drive in the Eight Mile community.

Officers found the victim, Geneva Kennedy, dead of what appeared to be a single gunshot wound, police said.

Milton remained at the residence and police quickly identified him as a suspect.

He was last being held in the Mobile Metro Jail without bond.
