An Alabama man was killed Thursday when his ATV flipped over, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and claimed the life of a Clanton, Alabama, man.

Leighton M. Nelson, 44, was fatally injured when the 2020 Polaris Ranger all-terrain vehicle (ATV) he was operating left the roadway before eventually coming back onto the roadway, where the ATV overturned.

Nelson was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Chilton County 477, approximately 8 miles from the Clanton city limits, in Chilton County.
