Police release body cam footage from incident with Alabama high school band director

Police released body camera footage to the public from an incident that involved an Alabama high school band director who refused to stop his band from playing after a football game on Thursday, September 14, 2023.

During the incident, Birmingham Police officers took Minor High School’s band director into custody; he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Harassment, and Resisting Arrest.
Birmingham Police Chief Scott Thurmond met with Mayor Randall Woodfin, City of Birmingham leadership, BPD Leadership, Birmingham City Schools Director Dr. Mark Sullivan, and his leadership team, as well as Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Dr. Walter B. Gonsoulin Jr. and his leadership team.
At the direction of Chief Scott Thurmond, the Birmingham Police Department has released body camera footage to our media partners and to the public on the Birmingham Police Department’s social media platforms.
This incident is under investigation by the Birmingham Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division.
