An Alabama man severely beaten by people who saw him run over and kill a woman on an Alabama highway has died from his injuries, police confirmed.

Kenneth Harrison, 45, died Wednesday afternoon from injuries he sustained late Saturday night after he stopped his vehicle after colliding with a woman who was walking across U.S. 31 outside a popular bar.

Police said Harrison was at the wheel when his truck struck and killed Hannah Martin, 24, outside The Tavern, just before midnight on August 5.

Witnesses said Harrison stopped his truck and was attached by an unknown number of bystanders who saw the pedestrian accident and began beating Harrison.

Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks confirmed in an email Wednesday night that Harrison had died.

Brooks said he was notified by Dr. James Raulerson at approximately 6:30 p.m. Brooks said the investigation continues, but is considered a homicide. No arrest has been made, he said.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the circumstances surrounding Martin’s death and APD investigators were investigating the circumstances surrounding Harrison’s assault.
