An Alabama man was killed Saturday when the pickup truck in which he was a passenger left the road and struck several trees, state troopers reported.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 6:43 p.m. Saturday, and claimed the life of a Rockford, Alabama, man.

Corey Housey, 24, was fatally injured when the 2012 Dodge Ram pickup he was a passenger in left the roadway and struck several trees.

Housey was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The driver, Dawson S. Horn, 23, of Goodwater, Alabama, was also injured and transported to Russell Medical Center, in Alexander City for treatment.

The crash occurred on Bywater Road, approximately 12 miles south of Alexander City, in Coosa County.
