A manhunt was under way Thursday morning for a state prison inmate who escaped.

Alabama correction officials said Tandion Markeeice Stoudemire, 21, escaped the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore, Alabama, at approximately 2 a.m.

Details of how he managed to escape the prison were not immediately released.

Stoudemire was convicted of attempted murder in 2022 which occurred in Montgomery.

He is described as 5-feet, 8-inches tall land weighs approximately 155 pounds.

At the time of the escape he was wearing a tan inmate uniform.
