An Alabama man and woman were arrested Thursday and charged with the murder of their infant son, police said.

James Biggs, 23, and Antonia Martin, 36, were being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail Thursday after their infant son was taken to the DCH Regional Medical Center Monday night. The child was unresponsive and later determined to have suffered several skull fractures.

He was eventually put on life support, but later died of his severe injuries.

Police said the parents could not explain the cause of the injuries and investigators determined that the injuries seemed consistent with intentional abuse.
