Alabama pedestrian killed when he was struck by a Mack dump truck early Monday, state troopers say

An Alabama man walking along a road was killed early Monday when he was struck by a dump truck, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. Monday, and claimed the life of a Tuscumbia, Alabama, man.

The pedestrian, Cedrick E. Garrett, 42, who was walking in the roadway, was fatally injured when he was struck by the 2023 Kenworth T880 dump truck driven by James G. Smith, 44, of Rogersville.

Garrett was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on Alabama 20 near Lawrence County 273, within the Town Creek city limits.
