Alabama deputies involved in multi-state car chase, ending with shooting

A man accused of leading authorities on a high-speed chase across state lines has been extradited to Mississippi and booked into the Tishomingo County Jail.
John William Griffin is being held on a $1,000,788 bond after facing multiple charges stemming from a multi-state pursuit that began in Mississippi and ended in Alabama.
According to the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office, the chase escalated when Griffin fired shots at deputies in Alabama, leading to a deputy-involved shooting in Colbert County. Griffin was injured in the exchange and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. He was released on September 9 and taken into custody by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office before being extradited back to Mississippi.
Griffin is now facing several serious charges, including felony fleeing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and five counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement.
