An Alabama man was killed Friday when his car collided, head-on with an SUV, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. Friday, and claimed the life of a Cleveland, Alabama, man.

Gregory S. Cantrell, 64, was fatally injured when the 2002 Toyota Avalon he was driving collided head-on with the 2022 Toyota Highlander driven by Annette W. Lake, 65, of Warrior, Alabama.

Cantrell was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Lake was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 160 near the 2 mile marker, approximately eight miles southwest of Hayden, in Blount County.
