A $1,000 reward is being offered in hopes of finding who is responsible for the death of an Alabama woman killed when a wrench flew through the windshield of the car she was traveling in.

The family of Earlie Harris, who died in the tragic and unusual accident on Interstate 65 earlier this month, is desperately seeking answers. Harris was killed when a wrench struck her as she sat in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

Cedric Harris, Earlie’s son, was driving her to work when the wrench suddenly smashed through the windshield. “All of a sudden, something flew through the window. I ducked down and looked up, and my mom was bleeding. I pulled off the interstate,” he recalled, still grappling with the shock of the moment.

The Harris family is struggling to comprehend the loss of the woman they describe as the “glue that held everything together.” Cedric added, “She was always there, through ups and downs.”

The source of the wrench remains unknown, though the family believes it may have come off a truck traveling north on I-65. They have enlisted the help of the Beasley Allen Law Firm in their search for the driver responsible. The firm’s attorney, LaBarron Boone, expressed frustration over the unanswered questions, noting, “It’s something you can’t miss. Somebody out there saw the object fall, bouncing down the street. It didn’t hit them, and maybe they just continued, but it did end up killing Ms. Earlie Harris, an unbelievable servant.”

As they mourn the loss of their beloved mother and grandmother, the Harris family continues to seek information that could provide some closure. The law firm is offering a $1,000 reward for any leads that might help identify the driver involved.

Meanwhile, local police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
