The decomposed remains of a man found next to a bicycle in a small ravine have been identified, but investigators still don’t know how the man died, Alabama authorities said Wednesday.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Wednesday that the decomposed remains found Tuesday morning at the bottom of a ravine off Matt Leonard Drive in Birmingham belong to Darrell Stephens, 64, of Birmingham.
Stephens was found along with a bicycle in a drainage culvert at the bottom of a ravine. An autopsy was scheduled to help investigators determine the manner and cause of his death.
Birmingham police are also investigating the incident.
