An Alabama woman walking along a road was killed Friday night when a motorist struck her, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian occurred at approximately 5:23 p.m. Friday, and claimed the life of a Union Grove, Alabama, woman.

The pedestrian, Megan S. Persiani, 30, was walking along side the roadway when she was struck by a 2017 Chrysler 300 driven by Jacob A. Muhlhauser, 32, of Arab.

Persiani was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. Muhlhauser was also injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on U.S. 231 near Staid Road, approximately one mile south of Lacey’s Spring, in Morgan County.
