The driver involved in a crash at the entrance of an Alabama university has died.

Mobile police are investigating a tragic early morning crash near the entrance to the University of South Alabama.

At approximately 5:57 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a collision at University Boulevard and Vanderbilt Drive in west Mobile. Upon arrival, they found the driver of one of the vehicles suffering from serious injuries. The driver was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The crash remains an active investigation, and police have not released the name of the deceased woman pending notification of next of kin.
