Three Alabama men burning trash became engulfed in flames late Saturday night killing one of the men, officials said.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said Michael Earl Williams Jr., 21, of Birmingham, was severely burned at approximately 11:18 p.m. Saturday while he and two others were burning a trash pile and used some sort of accelerant to start the fire.
Williams died early Tuesday at UAB Hospital. The conditions of the other two men who were also transported to UAB Hospital was not clear.
The fire occurred at a residence in the 1800 block of Fulton Avenue Southwest, Yates said.
The Birmingham Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze, Yates said.
