An Alabama woman was found dead on a residential porch Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police were called at approximately 2 p.m. Tuesday to the report of a person down at a residence in Birmingham.

Birmingham police said the woman was pronounced dead on the scene and investigators said they saw evidence of trauma on the woman’s body.

The woman was found on a porch in the 4400 block of 44th Avenue North.

Police said a citizen spotted the body and called 911. Investigators said they do not believe the death was random, but likely that the victim and the killer knew one another.

Investigators said an autopsy would be performed to determine the exact cause of death and to positively the victim.
