Human remains found by hunters four years ago identified as missing Alabama woman

Investigators confirmed Monday that the human remained found in 2020 by hunters were positively identified as those belonging to a missing woman.
Colbert County Sheriff’s Office investigators said FBI and Alabama Forensic Sciences experts confirm the remains found in November 2020 were positively identified as Courtney Vivian Staggs, who was 35 years old at the time of her disappearance earlier in the same year.
Her body was found by hunters, but investigators had been unable to confirm the identity.
She had last been seen in August 2020 in Florence, Alabama.
Criminal investigators said they have persons of interest in Staggs’ death and that the investigation continues.
