An Alabama woman accused of shooting her 7-year-old son to death has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation, a local TV station reported Friday.

Shannon Renee Karr, 36, of Moulton, Alabama, is charged with the capital murder of her 7-year-old son.

The shooting occurred in August 2023. Investigators said the child was shot twice at close range.

This week, WHNT-TV reported that Karr has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation to see if she’s capable of understanding the charges against her.

Shortly after the shooting, Karr reportedly told investigators that she was hearing voice and that she wanted to send her son to heaven.
