Alabama Skies Bulletin: The latest on today’s severe threat

Published 11:51 am Tuesday, April 2, 2024

Most of us are under a Level 3 risk for severe weather from the Storm Prediction Center.

The Level 1 risk is gone, and Level 2 risk covers southwestern Alabama. The rest of the state is under the Level 3 out of 5.

In the Level 3, all modes of severe weather are possible with “high confidence” in the potential for tornadoes, hail, and severe storms. Please have safety plans ready. Anyone living in a mobile home or RV should be prepared to take shelter in a substantial structure such as a friend or family member’s house, a hotel, or a community shelter.

Storms are expected by 3 p.m. in northwestern Alabama, 6 p.m. in central Alabama, and 11 p.m. in southeastern Alabama.
