Man electrocuted while he was stealing wire from electrical box, deputies say

A man believed to have been trying to steal wire from what he thought was a vacant apartment complex was killed Wednesday afternoon when he touched a live, high power electrical line and was killed, sheriff’s deputies said.
The incident happened at approximately 2:40 p.m. when deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were called to Woodside Condominiums in Center Point.
Investigators believe the man was trying to steal wiring from an electrical box at the site which was mostly vacant. The lines inside the box were still electrified.
First responders attempted to resuscitate the man, but their attempts were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His identify was not immediately known.
