An Alabama woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that Dessiree S. Hovel, 42, from Bayou La Batre, was struck by a vehicle that left the roadway just after 2 p.m. Sunday.

The incident occurred in Padgett Switch Road near Alabama 188 in Bayou La Batre.

The vehicle that struck Hovel Sunday afternoon was a 2006 Lexus RX400H driven by Daniel S. Taylor, 85, of Irvington.

Hovel was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident continues to be under investigation by ALEA officials.
