Two people were killed Monday in a head-on collision, Alabama authorities said Tuesday.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the two victims as Britney Hill Jones, 34, of Birmingham, and Demetris Lasalle Sanders, 51, of Center Point.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m. Monday on Bankhead Highway near Cherry Avenue.
Jones was driving a Nissan Rogue northbound when she was struck head-on by Sanders who was driving a Chevrolet Suburban.
The Suburban was traveling southbound when it reported crossed into the northbound lane, striking one car, but not injuring that driver. The SUV reportedly collided with several other cars before colliding head-on with Jones’ car.
Birmingham police are investigating the accident.
