An Alabama 4-year-old boy was killed Monday after being attacked by a dog, authorities said.

Morgan County Sheriff’s Office deputies wrote on social media that the child was attacked and killed by a pit bull dog.

“Please pray for the family of the child who was killed by a pit bull tonight in our community, as well as our Deputies, EMS, Coroner, VFD and Dispatchers that handled this call or responded to the scene,” deputies wrote. “Tonight is hard.”

A GoFundMe account setup to benefit the family identified the child as Beau Clark, son of Kevin and Hailey Clark of Hartselle.

WAFF-TV reported that the dog had been euthanized.
