The capital murder trial of an Alabama man accused of murdering his 3-month-old daughter is scheduled to begin this week, prosecutors said.

Corey Parsons, 33, was charged in May 2019 with capital murder after his infant daughter Nyla Rose died of blunt-force trauma.

His family has contended since shortly after his initial arrest that he did not commit the crime and pushed for his release from jail.

The court system has refused his attempts to be released. Parsons has been held without bond sine 2019.
