Published 10:30 am Sunday, February 11, 2024

The threat of severe weather today has been upgraded by the Storm Prediction Center.

The Level 2 risk now stretches from a Jasper to Gadsden line southward towards the Montgomery area. Threats include severe thunderstorms, large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes.

The Level 1 circles the Level 2 area. In this risk area, isolated severe storms are possible, and a tornado can’t be ruled out.

Storms in this round are expected to begin about 3 p.m. and continue through midnight 6 a.m.

We’ll have another round of potentially severe weather Monday for most of the state with a Level 2 issued for most of us.
