An Alabama man was convicted of reckless murder after prosecutors said he was driving drunk last year when he caused a wreck with another car, killing a 24-year-old man.
A Mobile County Jury found Harvey Caffey Jr. guilty of reckless murder, the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.
On February 23, 2023, Harvey Caffey Jr. was driving down Highway 90 under the influence of alcohol and struck into a car killing a 24-year-old Kenneth Rudolph, prosecutors said.
Assistant District Attorney Louis Walker presented evidence that Caffey had multiple DUI convictions in the state of Ohio and was using his cell phone during the time of the crash.
The victim, Kenneth Rudolph, was on his way home from work when that fatal crash occurred.
“Being on a jury is not an easy job but one that is necessary to the process,” says Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood. We are incredibly thankful for their service and for providing this grieving family the justice they deserve.”
Sentencing for Harvey Caffey Jr. will be March 27, 2024.
