Alabama Skies: Stormy weather takes over Saturday

We’ll have plenty of rain with a few thunderstorms possible Saturday. A few of the storms, especially in the southern part of the state, could be strong to severe.
Although the severe threat level is only a 1 out of 5, the area at risk now includes the entire southern portion of the state south of a line from just south of Selma to Montgomery. It includes Troy, Eufaula, and the entire Gulf Coast.
Our main threat will be strong to severe storms with heavy rain. We could also have some damaging wind gusts and hail. A tornado can’t be ruled out.
The severe threat should end up 5 p.m.
North Alabama
Showers are likely with thunderstorms possible. High near 65. A chance of showers in the evening with showers likely overnight. Storms are also possible. Low of 50.
Central Alabama
Showers are likely with thunderstorms possible. High near 68. Showers likely overnight with a low of 58.
South Alabama
Showers and thunderstorms. A storm or two could be strong to severe. High of 70. Showers likely overnight with a storm possible. Low of 60.
Gulf Coast
Showers and a storm or two with a high of 73. More showers and thunderstorms overnight. Low of 64.
