Alabama deputies reportedly shot and killed a man Tuesday after he led them on a police chase for almost 50 miles.
Sheriff’s deputies in Henry County began when law enforcement officials said they spotted what they believed was a stolen car and attempted to stop it. The pursuit began near Eufaula, Alabama, and ended with a crash on U.S. 431 in Headland, Alabama, WSFA-TV reported.
Exactly what happened after the crash is unclear. Deputies said the Alabama Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
Henry County Sheriff Eric Blankenship told local media that the suspect was shot and killed, but directed other questions to state investigators.
The TV station reported that the driver may have been a convicted felon from the Carolinas.
No officers were reportedly injured in the incident.
