Alabama woman killed when logs fall from log truck, strike her vehicle

An Alabama was killed Monday morning when her her pickup truck was struck by logs that fell from a log truck, police said.

Miriam Atteberry, 44, was killed at approximately 10:03 a.m. when a log truck drove over a railroad crossing and logs on the truck struck the overpass and became dislodged and struck Atteberry’s vehicle, police said.

The accident happened on Marvyn Parkway in Opelika. Atteberry was driving southbound and the log truck was traveling north when the accident happened.

Atteberry was pronounced dead at the scene.

Opelika police, the Lee County Coroner’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences continue to investigate the incident.
