An Alabama man was killed over the weekend when his car collided, head-on with a pick-up truck, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 1:10 p.m. Friday, and claimed the life of a Newton, Alabama, man.

Clinton Jeffrey Waltz, 48, was fatally injured when the 2013 Kia Optima he was driving collided head-on with the 2012 Ford F-250 driven by Casey Carroll Callister, 38, of Citronelle.

Waltz was pronounced deceased at the scene. Callister was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 106, approximately 14 miles west of Brantley, in Butler County.
