An Alabama man was killed Tuesday evening when the lawnmower he was operating was rear-ended by a pickup truck, state troopers reported.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, and claimed the life of a Lafayette, Alabama, man.

Richard H. Fetner, 69, was fatally injured when the Kubota lawnmower he was operating was struck in the rear-end by the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pickup driven by Nathaniel M. Cole, 58, also of Lafayette.

Fetner was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama 77 near the 11 mile marker, approximately 8 miles south of Wadley, in Chambers County.
