Man hunt begins after Alabama murderer escapes state prison

An Alabama murderer escaped a state prison Monday morning, prison officials said.
A man hunt has been started to locate Jordan Andrew Thomas, 30, who apparently escaped from the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County at approximately 11 a.m.
Exactly how he escaped was not immediately made clear by state corrections officials.
Thomas is serving a life sentence for the murder of Dennis Johnson in 2012.
Thomas is described as a Black male, standing approximately 5-foot, 8-inches and weighing approximately 120 pounds.
He was last believed to be wearing a brown shirt and brown pants.
