Alabama Skies: Heavy rain possible in parts of the state Saturday

Saturday will be a day of complete opposites across the state. There will be times of sunshine and very hot temperatures while other times will be stormy with potentially heavy rainfall.

North Alabama will be pretty soggy Saturday while we’ll have some sunny weather to enjoy in other regions. We’ll also have heat index values up to 108.

Subtropical Storm Don formed in the Atlantic. Right now, it’s no threat to the American coast, but it’s going to travel in a large circle the next several days. We’ll watch to see what happens later in the week.

North Alabama

Showers and storms likely. Some rainfall could be heavy. High of 90 and heat index of 102. Mostly cloudy Saturday night with a chance of a shower or a thunderstorm. Low of 70.

Central Alabama

Partly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High near 91. Mostly cloudy Saturday night with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Low of 73.

South Alabama

Mostly sunny with a few showers and storms in the afternoon. High of 93. Mostly cloudy with an isolated shower or storm overnight. Low of 74.

Gulf Coast

Mostly sunny with scattered storms developing in the late morning and throughout the afternoon. High near 92 and heat index of 108. Becoming mostly clear Saturday night. Low of 77.
