The Alabama prison inmate who escaped custody early Thursday was recaptured Friday morning, prison officials said.

Tandion Markeeice Stoudemire, 21, was discovered missing in the early hours of Thursday from the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County.

Exactly how he managed to escape have not been made public.

Stoudemire is serving a 23-year sentence for an attempted murder conviction last year in Montgomery.

He was caught in Montgomery and authorities said they arrested Acacia Laraea Stallworth and charged her with helping Stoudemire escape.
