Alabama Skies: Will today’s storms bring a severe threat?
Published 1:30 am Wednesday, May 17, 2023
Most of Alabama has a decent chance for some heavy rain and thunderstorms today and this evening. Some of the storms could be on the strong side, but we’re not expecting widespread severe weather. Our neighbors in Mississippi have a severe risk right up to the Alabama state line but forecast offices in Alabama haven’t extended those into the state. We’ll keep a watch on that if it changes.
Temperatures will be a few degrees cooler today, but that’s only because of cloudy skies and moist air keeping temps down. It will still few very humid as a low pressure sits over our state.
North Alabama
A mixture of cloudy to sunny skies until a few showers and storms develop in the afternoon. High near 80. Mostly cloudy in the evening, becoming clear overnight. Low of 61.
